West Ham star’s father says his son will return to France

Andrew Ayew

Andre Ayew’s father, legendary former Ghanaian footballer Abedi Pele, has said that he one day sees his son returning to Marseille to play his football.

Pele said of his son’s admiration for the Ligue 1 outfit, “It is possible that André will return to OM one day. He is a child of the club, trained in Marseilles. He has the love of the jersey, the fans know he’s ready for anything for his club.”

Though he has shown glimpses of fine play, this has been a difficult season for Ayew, who has struggled with injuries.  The 27-year-old Ayew arrived at the Hammers for a club record fee of £20.5 million from Swansea City last summer and a lot was expected off him.

With Marseille recently been taken over, the club’s financial situation has improved. The French club acquired Dimitri Payet from West Ham during the January transfer window and they have been linked with other stars, including goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
