According to Italian source II Mattino, Everton have registered an interest in luring Kalidou Koulibaly, while Chelsea appear to no longer keen.
The 25-year-old is a key part of the Napoli team and has made 34 appearances this season in all competitions.
Since joining Napoli from Genk, Koulibaly has established himself as one of the best defenders in world football.
His displays have caused many elite clubs to become interested in him and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed in October that the club rejected a £58 million bid from Chelsea for the player.
The Toffee’s did attempt to lure Koulibaly last summer but failed as Napoli demanded nothing less than £60 million for a sale to take place.
Given the Senegal international’s importance to the club as well his performances, it is unlikely that the price demanded by the Italian club will be matched by Everton anytime soon. Nevertheless there will be speculation over the player’s future.
