Leeds United boss Gary Monk has insisted that his side will keep fighting despite suffering a blow to their promotion playoff chances after enduring a 2-1 loss to Burton Albion during the weekend.
He said, “We are disappointed and now the situation is out of our hands. But we have a duty to each other and to our fans and to everyone with how hard this group has been working all season to fight to the very end.”
Marvin Sordell and Michael Kightly notched goals in the second half to condemn the Whites to successive defeats as the Whites continued their disappointing run of form. Though Kyle Bartley managed to net late on in the game, Leeds did not manage to savage something from the game.
Considering that Burton have not been on the best of form this season, the match was a golden opportunity for the Yorkshire club to gain valuable points
They are now three points behind Fulham, who occupy sixth position, and next face a potentially tough encounter against eighth placed Norwich City.
The Cottagers and Sheffield Wednesday also managed to record victories to further intensify the pressure on Gary Monk’s side that now have a difficult task on their hands.
