Ex-United star urges defender to join Everton over the Red Devils

Former Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins has urged Michael Keane to join Everton over Manchester United.

Wilkins, who made 194 appearances for United himself as a player said, “He gives me the impression he wants to play football. If he goes to Old Trafford, he might not get that. If he goes to Everton he will have an opportunity to perform, as Jagielka and Williams are both getting on a bit.”

The 24-year-old has been on good form this season and was called up to the England national team for their most recent games against Lithuania and Germany.

He is now likely to leave Burnley during the summer as he looks to progress his career by playing for a team that can challenge for trophies.

There is no doubt that Wilkins makes a valid argument. Should the England international wish for more regular game time, Everton would be the better team.

He may also have bad memories off Old Trafford after starting his career with the Red Devils and failing to break into the first team during a four year spell before being sold to Burnley.
