Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson is reportedly a target of Newcastle United.
The 25-year-old will enter the final year of his current deal during the summer and as he is seemingly surplus to requirements at the Gunners, having only made one appearance in the Premier League this season, it is likely that he will be sold.
With Vurnon Anita’s future at Newcastle unclear and Jesus Gamez failing to impress, Rafa Benitez may be looking to bring in Jenkinson to his side to provide competition for DeAndreYedlin and Jamie Sterry.
Though Jenkinson never really established himself as a first team regular for Arsene Wenger’s side, his experience of having represented the England national team and of playing in the Premier League could be beneficial for Newcastle.
He is also a versatile defender, being able to operate at either left back or centre back. Jenkinson may also be keen on a fresh challenge in order to gain more regular playing time.
