Sunderland manager David Moyes is furious with the clubs former director of football Roberto De Fanti, who claimed that Fabio Borini and Vito Mannone will leave the club during the summer.
De Fanti, who had an unsuccessful six month spell as director of football at Sunderland, had told Italian source Tuttosport, “We say that unfortunately the relegation of Sunderland is near and with it the most important players are destined to leave the club including Vito and Fabio.”
Speaking about De Fanti’s comment, Moyes said, “Well the first thing I would say is that it is wrong for any agent to talk about players while they are under contract.
“When it is someone who we know we’re talking about [De Fanti as Sunderland’s former director of football], you’d think that would mean they would even more respect [for Sunderland].
“It isn’t a breach [of contract] to talk about your player while he is under contract, but it certainly isn’t the correct way for an agent to do (things).”
Sunderland are destined for relegation this season and will have a lot of players leaving the squad at the end of the season. Borini has reportedly attracted the interest of Scottish giants Celtic while Mannone is reportedly on the radar of Watford as well as Serie A clubs Genoa and Atalanta.
