Sunderland defender Lamine Kone has been linked with a move to West Ham. The Hammers have been suffering defensively this season and may be looking to sign the 28-year-old in order to add extra reinforcement.
After joining the Black Cats from French Ligue 1 Club Lorient in January 2016, Kone played impressively last season to help his team avoid relegation. Though Kone recently signed a new five year deal with the club in September last year, the defender could leave next summer as Sunderland are likely to be relegated.
Relegation will hamper Sunderland’s negotiating power and Kone will be keen to continue playing in the Premier League, so a deal may well be on the cards.
With Winston Reid currently out injured and Euro 2016 winner Jose Fonte failing to live up to expectations since arriving from Southampton in January, Kone could help add extra quality to the haphazard Hammers defense.
