In Week 10 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017, Tigres UANL will host Chivas of Guadalajara this Tuesday, April 11, 2017 (7:00 PM Pacific). The match is being played until now because of the referees’ strike that postponed week 10 last month.
Tigres UANL needs to win this game to keep their hopes of participating in the playoffs alive. The felines are currently in 12th place with 13 points, six points out of a playoff spot. At this point of the tournament, six points is a lot and this game could end their season if they lose it. The current champions have not won in their past three matches. The last two matches for Tigres UANL have been underwhelming, drawing 1-1 to Necaxa and losing 1-0 to Leon at home. The ‘regios’ need points from this match and from the few matches that remain in this Clausura for their playoff push.
Chivas of Guadalajara, unlike Tigres, is sitting comfortably in a playoff spot currently in second place with 24 points. The ‘rojiblancos’ are coming from a slight 3-2 win over Puebla which was extremely lucky, Cristian Campestrini made a fatal error in the dying seconds of the game which won Guadalajara the game.
Chivas has not looked all that convincing this tournament with performances like the one against Puebla. It will be interesting to see how Matias Almeyda’s side can do against a struggling Tigres UANL side, the match is among the most enticing this week and should present a thrilling game.
