Slaven Bilic reveals why he was surprised with Kouyate against Swansea

Speaking after his club’s 1-0 win over Swansea on Saturday, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic revealed that he was surprised to see Cheikhou Kouyate open his Premier League goal scoring account.

Following the game, Bilic jokingly said that he was surprised to see the Senegal international score, “We started the game well and had a couple of opportunities but then that goal was a little unexpected from Cheikhou! No, it was a great goal.”

After a poor run of form in the League, the win comes as a welcome relief for Bilic, who has been the subject of criticism from many fans of the Hammers over recent weeks.

Since moving to the Hammers from Belgian club Anderlecht during the summer of 2014, Kouyate has established himself as a key player for the club. He played a key role and scored five goals for the East London club as they gained praise for their impressive displays last season.

However this season, the club has been below par and Kouyate only scored his first goal of the season on Saturday.
