Newcastle United have been dealt an injury blow as they will have to make do without the services of Daryl Murphy and Ciaran Clark for at least their next two fixtures, according to Chronicle Live.
The Magpies are currently in first place on the Championship standings with a one point lead over second placed Brighton and Hove Albion and a seven point lead over third placed Huddersfield.
Rafael Benitez’s side will face off against basement clubs Wigan Athletic and Burton Albion in their upcoming games and there is no doubt that they will be looking for wins from these games.
Clark has been a key component in the Magpies defence this season through his impressive performances.
While Murphy has been used mainly as cover, he has done a fine job when required to spearhead the attack of the team during Dwight Gayle’s absence through injury. The injury to the 34 year old will add pressure on Gayle, who has started just twice since mid-January.
