Tottenham Hotspurs defender Ben Davies has admitted that it was the influence of manager Mauricio Pochettino that convinced him to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane.
The 23-year-old becomes the 13th player from the Spurs senior team to renew his contract with the club this season, despite interest from Premiership rivals Crystal Palace.
Davies has spent a large amount of his senior career at Tottenham so far on the sidelines as cover for Danny Rose, who has established himself as arguably the best left- back in the Premiership. An injury set back to Rose however has allowed Davies to gain game time over recent weeks.
“All you want to do is play and at the moment I’m having a nice run,” Davies said. “Speaking to the manager, it’s all about improving as a player first and foremost. He said he wanted to keep me, so there were no doubts about signing.”
