Everton manager Ronald Koeman has reportedly made it clear that he does not wish to become manager of his native Netherlands national team.
The Oranje have had a serious decline in recent years. After finishing in third place during the 2014 Fifa World Cup, they failed to qualify for Euro 2016 and recently sacked manager Danny Blind after a 2-0 loss to Bulgaria which puts their chances of qualifying for the World Cup next year in jeopardy.
Koeman notched 78 appearances for the Netherlands national team during his playing days and also started off his managerial career as assistant manager to Guus Hiddink in 1997.
He also admitted recently that managing the national team remains of his ambitions, so he will probably be manager in the future.
For now though, Koeman has told the Netherlands FA that “now is not the time” for him to take over as reported by Fox Sport. This is presumably because he is happy at Everton.
