The Sun have reported that West Ham will offer Winston Reid a new contract at the end of the season.
Jose Fonte, who arrived at the East London club in January from Southampton, reportedly currently, earns more than Reid and hence the club are keen to give the 28-year-old an improved contract.
The Hammers are also set to increase the buyout clause in the New Zealand internationals contract from £15 million to a figure believed to be in excess of £20 million.
A source from the club said, Winston will receive a new contract offer in the summer, he deserves parity with Fonte.
The source told the Sun, “Winston will receive a new contract offer in the summer, he deserves parity. He is highly-valued by the club.
“We want to increase his buyout clause as well, there will be no risks taken to lose him cheap. He has given us so many years of good service and is respected that it’s only fair he’s one of the top earners.”
Reid has made 173 appearances for West Ham and scored nine goals during a seven year spell with the club after joining from Danish club Midtjylland in 2010.
