Leeds United outcast states that he has repaid Garry Monk

Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has claimed that he is confident that he has repaid Gary Monk’s faith in him after regaining a place within the first team.

Cooper took Pontus Jansson’s spot in defence this weekend against Brighton on Saturday and helped his side secure a vital 2-0 win against the Championship title contenders.

This season has proven to be a challenging one for Cooper, who only made his tenth League appearance and seventh start of this campaign last weekend.

Nonetheless, he hopes that his performance would have convinced Monk that he had made the right decision and told BBC Radio Leeds, “The gaffer just called me into his office and told me that I am playing tomorrow.

“I was just delighted as obviously I have waited a long time, I have been professional and I have helped the team from the other side”.

Cooper will certainly hoping to feature in the crucial final few games of the season for a Leeds side that are hopeful of returning to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
