Rush: Liverpool legend to succeed Jurgen Klopp

Everywhere you look, Ian Rush is ever-present when Liverpool are in action. In fact, he even helped coordinate the draw for the quarterfinals of the Champions League on Friday (where they will not be).

Rush was known for his goal scoring exploits, but he’s also remained very connected to the club. It’s that connection that has allowed him to declare that Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard could be a ‘dynasty.’

He said to the Mirror, before Carra and Stevie take part in a legends game under his watch, that “there’s no better man for the job than Jurgen Klopp, but maybe, in the future we can start a new Anfield dynasty, with Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher calling the shots.”

It’s a bit of a big weight to be placed on their shoulders, but if anyone would know if they could do it, it would be Ian Rush. Liverpool definitely needed someone from the outside to come in and change the approach of the club, and they have that in Klopp.

But they really do need to get back to an inside man when his time is up. That time shouldn’t come soon, so it should allow these former leaders to learn and then step in. But take heed in the story of Ryan Giggs. That one never worked out, so you just never know how it will end.
