West Ham’s owner lays down optimistic ambition for the club

David Gold has told West Ham fans that the club is working hard to try and finish in eighth place at the end of the season.  The Hammers currently occupy 11th position on their standings after their 3-2 loss to Bournemouth during the weekend.

Gold took to Twitter to inform the public of the clubs aim.

The Hammers have failed to live up to the promise that was displayed during the 2015-16 season. The likes of Mark Noble and Adrian have clearly lost the fine form they displayed last season.

Injury setbacks have also hampered the club’s progress this season. Diafra Sakho, Andy Carroll and Angelo Ogbonna have all suffered long term injury setbacks this season. The move to the London Stadium also has impacted the clubs home form as they are still adjusting to the ground.

As a major test of their top half credentials, the Hammers will have to prepare themselves for difficult upcoming games against the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham. They next face a resurgent Leicester City side on Saturday.
