According to Portuguese paper A Bola, both Liverpool and Manchester United sent scouts to watch FC Porto midfielder Danilo Periera during his side’s 7-0 triumph at home Nacional on Saturday.
Liverpool have been linked with a Danilo in the past, but they lost out to Real Madrid in the end of that one. As for this Danilo, it’s thought that both of the English rivals are interested in making him a part of their sides going forward.
Danilo doesn’t have much in the way of stats, as he’s scored just twice and assisted once over the course of 32 games so far this term. But he’s become an important cog in his side, and he’s recently signed a five year contract with the club.
This seems fairly routine to me. Liverpool and United both have wide scouting operations throughout Europe. It’s reasonable that they’d sent people to Porto to watch a number of stars.
With him signing a new deal, it looks very unlikely that Liverpool will make a move. It’s possible for United, but it’s also hard to see that one happening as well.
