Report: Liverpool to move for talented goalkeeper

Anfield

For some reason, teenage Italian goalkeepers seem to be all the craze today. According to the Mirror, Liverpool are looking at bringing in 19 year old Alex Meret. Meret, on loan from Udinese, is playing fine football with Serie B side SPAL at the moment.

The young Italian is said to be good enough to possibly start next season at his parent side, but Liverpool are said to possibly have plans to the contrary there. With two inconsistent goalkeepers of their own, it’s thought they might turn to the new ‘Dino Zoff’ for help.

Given Liverpool’s goalkeeper problems, it’s no surprise to see them being linked with other goalkeepers. But to move for someone at the age of 19 right now would be absurd. The amount of pressure is simply too high, and it wouldn’t do to have him as a reserve or to loan him out.

Liverpool have enough of that already! The best move for all concerned in this situation is to sit still at the moment. No sense in ruining the young man’s career by forcing a move at this point as playing for Udinese would help him more than moving to a big club’s bench.
