£6million international midfielder confirms talks with Rafa Benitez

Newcastle United forward Siem de Jong has expressed his desire to return to his parent club following his current loan spell with Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutch international joined the Magpies, for a fee believed to be around £6 million, from Ajax on a six-year deal in the summer of 2014.

However, his time in England was hampered with multiple injuries and he couldmanage only 22 league appearances during his two years with the club.

In the summer, he was allowed by Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez to move back to Netherlands to get more playing time. During his time with PSV, he has shown glimpses of his old form, but his injury troubles still continue to plague him.

He has revealed that he is regularly in contact with Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez and wishes to re-join the club in the summer.

Soccer News quotes him as saying: “I would like to go back to Newcastle United, it’s a great club, especially when they play in the Premier League. I hope there are opportunities and I want also to fight for a place.

“But hopefully I can in preparation for the new season. The coach occasionally sends a text message to me. It’s nice that he does. I follow them closely.”

The 28-year-old has scored four goals in 13 league appearances for the Dutch side this season.
