West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has claimed that his star forward Andy Carroll’s injury problems are putting his chances of a recall to the England national team in jeopardy.
After a good run of form which prompted calls for Gareth Southgate to hand him an England recall, Carroll is set to miss West Ham’s game on Saturday against Watford due to a groin problem.
Bilic said, “I told him those small things that are ruining, or affecting, his return, are no good for him, for us, or for a call-up. This is not a big injury but he needs to play, he needs to be available and hopefully he will train.”
Carroll has had the misfortune of being injury prone throughout his career. This has arguably been a factor in why he has not played for the Three Lions since 2012 and did not go on to become one of the world’s most feared forwards which many expected of him earlier in his career.
