There will be some great match-ups in this week 5 of the Clausura 2017 Copa Corona MX. Including second division side, Atlante hosting Chivas at the Estadio Andres Quintana Roo this Tuesday, February 21, 2017 (5:00 PM Pacific). Both teams did face each other in week 2 of the competition, drawing 1-1 at the Estadio Chivas.
Chivas de Guadalajara is the front-runner of its respective group with seven points, with Atlante close behind with a game in hand and four points. Matias Almeyda’s team has not looked convincing in the competition beating Merida twice by the minimum score of 1-0 and drawing to Atlante 1-1. Although it is the reserves playing in the competition, the string of reserves is still among the strongest in the league.
Players like Isaac Brizuela, Nestor Calderon, Michael Perez, Carlos Fierro and Isaac Brizuela have been some of the players that have participated in the tournament. This game will not be easy for Chivas, especially away from home, it should be interesting to see if the ‘tapatios’ can get the favorable result.
Atlante is one of the premier clubs of the Ascenso MX competition in fourth place with 15 points. Head coach, Eduardo Fentanes has used several regular starters in the Copa MX like Fernando Herrera who scored against Chivas in the week 2 match between the two teams. Francisco Uscanga was also featured in the game, who is the top goal-scorer for the ‘potros’ in the Ascenso MX with five goals. Atlante has only lost one game at home in 2017 and should be able to put up a decent fight against Chivas in front of a sold-out crowd at the Estadio Andres Quintana Roo.
