Toby Alderweireld has said that team meetings have benefited Tottenham after the players came to a realization that change was required.
The North London club disappointed in recent weeks by losing in the Premier League to Liverpool as well as suffering a shock defeat to Gent in their Europa League clash on Thursday.
After the disappointing results, the Tottenham players had discussions amongst each other and Mauricio Pochettino told them to deliver an improved performance against Fulham which they did, beating their London rivals 3-0 in their FA Cup clash on Sunday. The win came thanks to a fine hat-trick from Harry Kane.
Alderweireld told, “We talked to each other after the game in the Europa League and said ‘Yeah, we have to change’.”
Tottenham will take on Gent in the second leg of their Europa League tie on Thursday. Spurs will need to overturn a 1-0 deficit but will certainly have high hopes of winning the tie, especially as they will be playing at home.
