Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders has said that he believes Tottenham star Dele Alli may become the world’s most wanted midfielder soon.
After joining Spurs for a mere £5 million in 2015, the 20-year-old finished his first season at the North London club by winning the young player of the year award. He has again proven to be consistent this season, scoring 11 League goals as well as establishing himself as a regular within the England national team.
Over recent months, the youngster has been linked with Real Madrid, with rumors suggesting that the Spanish giants are prepared to pay to pay £85 million to lure him.
“DeleAlli is improving week-in week-out and is going to be worth an absolute fortune,” Saunders told talkSPORT, “If he keeps going the way he is going, he’s going to be the most wanted midfield player in the world.
“When you say in the world, you’re including players like Lionel Messi and the rest of them, but Alli is the one they’ll want to buy – so what value do you put on him then?”
Despite the huge claims, Saunders does have a point. Judging by the extent of Alli’s form, he is certainly one of the best youngsters in world football right now. It remains to be seen whether he will want to move away from Spurs.
