Former Sunderland Gus Poyet has questioned whether his former clubs decision to go to New York on a team-bonding trip is correct.
Moyes announced to his team that they would be jetting off to New York prior to their 4-0 mauling of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Poyet has indicated that the trip may have hampered preparations for Sunderland’s game against Southampton last weekend which they were comprehensively thrashed in, losing 4-0.
Poyet said, “I think you need to wait and see [whether it will be a good decision]. If they come back and win three in a row, it’s the best decision he ever made.”
Palace who were set to travel to Dubai, cancelled the trip following their defeat to the Black Cats.
Swansea City, who are also in the relegation dogfight, have decided to continue their preparations for the final phase of the season at home as they seek to continue their recent impressive run of form under Paul Clement.
