West Ham United fans will be boosted by the news that Andy Carroll’s scissor strike against Crystal Palace has won the accolade of Premier League goal of the month for January.
The goal beat Olivier Giroud’s scorpion kick which was also against Palace. Carroll’s goal won the award after voting from fans as well as a panel of judges. The striker has admitted that the goal was the greatest of his career.
When he was asked by West Ham United if it was, he responded saying, “I think it has to be.” Many had expected Giroud’s strike to win the award after many even dubbed his strike to be the best goal that will be scored in 2017 when it was struck on the New Year’s day.
Other notable goals which missed out on the award included David Luiz’s free kick against Liverpool, Lucas Perez’s strike against Bournemouth and Harry Kane’s goal against West Brom.
