Everton manager Ronald Koeman is targeting a top four finish for his side this season.
The Dutch coach had targeted catching sixth place Manchester United a week ago but with Arsenal in fourth place only seven points ahead, he is fancying leading the Toffees to a fourth place finish.
Based off of the way Everton have been playing recently, the Merseyside outfit will certainly be confident of their chances.
Koeman told Sky Sports, “You have changed your opinion now. You were always speaking about top six and now you’re saying we need to talk about the first four.
“Everything is possible because everybody knows the Premier League is so tough, and it’s not about the opponent you play. I did not change my mind [on this season’s aim], it’s step by step. If we don’t win this Saturday, we’ll talk about maybe the first eight. We need to be realistic.
“You can’t compare Everton with Southampton. Yes, normally, my teams are always in a good state until the end of the season. That’s what we try to plan: you have more possibilities to win the game if the team is really fit.
“With Southampton, we won seven of the last eight – if we keep that at Everton then, yes, maybe something special will be possible this season.”
During his tenure with Southampton, Koeman led the club to a place in the Europa league after finishing sixth in the Premier League. The Saints ended up finishing just three points off the Champions League places.
Having claimed 17 points of a possible 21, Everton are high on confidence and if the Toffees keep up their current level of confidence, they will have a very strong chance of making the Champions League.
