HITC report that majority shareholder of Grimby Town John Fenty has claimed that Leeds United had the opportunity to sign Omar Bogle ahead of Wigan Athletic but chose not to sign the player.
After arriving at Grimsby from minnows Solihull Moors, the 24-year-old Bogle become a hit notching 38 goals from 83 games for the club. Many feel that he has what it takes to ply his trade in the upper divisions of English football.
It was Bogle’s impressive performances this season in League two that alerted him to a number of clubs. During 30 league two games this season, he smashed 19 goals and even has an impressive free-kick ability.
Bogle was signed by Wigan Athletic on the transfer deadline day on a two and a half year deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £1 million and £1.5 million. Bogle scored his first two goals for Wigan during their 2-2 draw with Norwich on Tuesday.
