Celtic have lost midfielder Tom Rogic for two months after the Australian underwent an operation on his injured ankle.
The 24-year-old hasn’t appeared for the Hoops since he suffered an ankle injury in the game against Dundee on December 17.
According to Sky Sports, Rogic suffered another ankle injury on the same spot in training and was forced to go under the knife.
Rogic had score six goals in 14 league appearances before his injury, but the Hoops seem to be doing well in his absence. Brendan Rodgers’ side have won all nine of their games in the absence of their injured midfielder.
Manager Brendan Rodgers provided the latest update in his press conference.
“Tom Rogic had to have an operation,” he said. “It was unfortunate, it was right at the end of training, the same spot where he had it before. His foot stuck in the ground, and he did a full twist on it.
“It was either going through the same procedure as before or have an operation so he went to London for an operation and it is all done and he is on the way to recovery now.
“It is a big disappointment because he is a player I was looking forward to seeing back. He will be back for the end of the season, it is a disappointment that he will miss up to eight weeks.”
The Celts signed the Australian from Central Coast Mariners in 2013. He failed to make cement his place in the first-team for his first two seasons at the club.
The 2015-16 proved to be the turning point in Rogic’s time at Celtic as he scored eight goals in 30 league appearances for his side.
