In an interesting revelation of sorts, court documents have come out that show that Liverpool Football Club could have been brought under the ownership of billionaire Bill Gates at one point in time.
According to Exhibit 5 in a court battle being contested by Mill Financial and former Liverpool owner George Gillet and the Royal Bank of Scotland, it understood that “there was an attempt to contact Bill Gates and Bob Kraft (New England Patriots owner).”
This is somewhat random and out there a little, but it does show the level of desperation that surrounded the club and its owners at the time.
In the end, it was another New England businessman that ended up purchasing the Reds- John Henry. The partnership has been a decent one so far, but you still just wonder what it would’ve been like with Bill Gates of all people at the helm!
Unfortunately, we’ll never know, and it may well have worked out for the best for all parties involved in the end.
