Forest signed £12million man on recommendation of ex-Leeds’ boss

The acting manager of Nottingham Forest, Gary Brazil, has admitted that he consulted with former Leeds United manager Brian McDermott prior to completing the signing of Ross McCormack during last month’s transfer window.

Following his arrival at Aston Villa during the summer, the 30 year old struggled to deliver with high expectations having been placed on him by the Villians and manager Steve Bruce suggested that he was unhappy with the players attitude.

The best spell of McCormack’s career was arguably at Leeds United, where he netted 53 goals over a four year spell.

Forest said to the clubs website, “To bring in the quality of a player like Ross McCormack, who is proven at this level to score goals, is great. I took some advice from Brian McDermott who was the manager at Leeds and he spoke glowingly about Ross.”

With Forest struggling this season, and McCormack being a proven goal scorer with a wealth of experience, signing him was definitely a worthwhile move.
