Everton manager Ronald Koeman has admitted that he can sympathize with Stoke manager Mark Hughes after his team’s controversial equalizer during the 1-1 draw with Stoke City on Wednesday.
Romelu Lukaku was thought to have tucked in a Seamus Coleman delivery from an offside position, however, it was ruled that Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross had the final touch.
Koeman said “I can understand why Mark was frustrated about that goal, because it was first the linesman flagged for offside.”
Veteran forward Peter Crouch (35) scored his 100th Premier League goal to give Stoke the lead. Koeman has admitted that Hughes is well within his rights to be frustrated at the equalizer.
However Koeman did say that a draw was a fair outcome as his side were the better side in the second half, which was in large part thanks to the brilliant performance in midfield of Morgan Schneiderlin. Everton will look to continue their good form and push towards a top six position when they take on Bournemouth on Saturday. It is certainly a winnable game for the Toffees.
