Tottenham Hotspur star lashes out at Sunderland midfielder

Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has lashed out at Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell and feels he should have been sent off for knee high kick on Mousa Dembele (via the Daily Mail).

Rodwell was booked after intentionally bringing down Dembele after he attempted to dribble him. Kane led the protests against the reckless challenge but referee Lee Mason did not award a red card when he should have done so.

Kane was infuriated due to the red not being given. Sunderland appeared to be very physical on the day and the striker was also himself on the receiving end of a strong challenge from Rodwell.

However, Kane did maintain that the physicality of the Sunderland team on the day cannot be used as an excuse for Tottenham’s below par performance.

They failed to capitalize on Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool. Had they won, they could have reduced the deficit between them and the log leaders, however it was not to be and they remain nine points adrift of Chelsea.
