Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is reportedly waiting to get an approval from the club’s specialist, before he can return to full training with the struggling club. Pickford is not expected to return to play for another couple of weeks.
This will certainly be more disappointing news for Sunderland fans in what has proven to be a disappointing season for the club thus far. Pickford was one of the brightest sparks in the Sunderland team prior to sustaining a knee ligament injury during a collision with teammate Papy Djilobodji during the club’s boxing day loss against Manchester United.
Pickford reportedly visited the specialist last week, with Sunderland manager David Moyes being hopeful that he could resume training soon, however he was not given an approval.
Pickford has the potential to become a future England starting goalkeeper and has impressive distribution skills. He has been impressive in distributing balls to forward Victor Anichebe to provide Sunderland’s most impressive moments this season thus far. If Sunderland want to avoid relegation, Pickford’s comeback will improve their chances.
