Strength in depth pays off for Rodgers, Celtic

It’s been one day since Celtic broke the Lisbon Lions’ record for most Scottish matches undefeated. The incredible feat has stood for nearly 50 years, and it’s been broken by a reinvigorated Celtic side led by a young, progressive Brendan Rodgers as manager.

His admiration for the club has never been doubted, and he’s been the perfect man for the job of reinventing Celtic into their former greatness. He’s done this by building up a full squad. This squad is stacked from top to bottom. There are young players, highly sought after, and veterans to help corral them.

This has been the part of the plan that has made Celtic so exceptional this season. They have so many players that are available to their manager. That’s the beauty of it. The competition to get into the side is harder than ever, and it will drive these players on.

On Sunday, Celtic’s first of four goals were scored by Callum McGregor. He only started due to an injury in warm-ups to Stuart Armstrong. This showcases how well Rodgers has done, and it’s only a matter of time before Celtic are back in a big way on the European stage.
