Everton offer a contract to 24-year-old attacker

Everton have offered former player Jose Baxter a 12 month contract after his one year ban for testing positive for cocaine ended, as reported by the Daily Times.

Baxter is the youngest player to have ever represented Everton, having made his debut in 2008 aged 16. He tested positive for cocaine last February while playing for Sheffield United.

The football Association (FA panel) banned him in August, having already given him a suspended punishment in 2015 as he tested positive for ecstasy after the hearing accepted that his drink had been spiked.

Baxter is set to work with Dave Unsworth’s under-23 side and the coach has urged the player not to take the chance he is being offered for granted.

Baxter can indeed consider this to be a great opportunity. He is indeed lucky that a club like Everton offered him a new lease on life following his past transgressions and should use this opportunity to revitalize his career.
