Three Players Tottenham Must Sign Before Transfer Deadline Day

With victory over Chelsea snapping Chelsea’s incredible run, Spurs vaulted themselves back in to the title race in dominating fashion.  Since then, they’ve slipped back a little and are now nine points back.  But you just get the feeling that if anyone is going to challenge Chelsea that it will be Tottenham.  Their youth and vigor has them chasing down titles, and they are bound to win one at some point if their consistency continues.  It’s hard to see Spurs improving their starting lineup, but they do need some depth added to their side.  Here are three signings that could help them close the gap on Chelsea:

3 Jordan Lukaku

The younger brother of Everton striker Romelu would be a good signing that would help out in one potential problem area: left back and/or left wingback. We could see Ben Davies move along, and if he does they will need help.  Lukaku has incredible pace, and is very similar to Danny Rose.  Spurs need to make sure that an injury to Rose does not ruin their chances.

2 Isco

Spurs have flirted with the Real Madrid man for months now, and it would pay off for both parties to join together. Signing Isco would be reminiscent of the signing of Rafael van der Vaart some time ago.  Spurs need goals from the midfield on a more consistent basis.  Dele Alli has done much better scoring, and that has taken a huge load off of Harry Kane.  But Isco could further the threat even more, and he’d fit in with the style of play that Mauricio Pochettino favors.

1 Martin Caceres

Caceres is currently without a club, and Spurs are in dire need of defensive depth at the back. Caceres can play either at center back or at right back, and he’s a very experienced player having made finals with Uruguay at international level.  Caceres’ signing wouldn’t break the bank and would be pretty low-risk, and it would help tremendously if further injury problems were to develop.
