Four Players Newcastle Must Sign Before Transfer Deadline Day

Earlier in the season, it looked like Newcastle would run away with not only promotion but the English Championship trophy as well.  Since then, though, they’ve been pegged back by a pesky Brighton side that are getting very tired of coming very close to promotion.  Many people will state that it simply doesn’t matter whether you win the title or not, but it will matter quite a lot to Newcastle fans and to Rafa Benitez himself, who has been ridiculed endlessly for the last few years.  Here are four signings they can make to win the league and launch themselves back into England’s top flight:

4 Yohan Cabaye

the Crystal Palace man knows Tyneside very well after plying his trade at Newcastle in the past. With Newcastle looking a little light in central midfield, Cabaye come give them exactly the kick that they need to press on toward a title.  He could form quite the partnership with Jonjo Shelvey, or he could be used in rotation with the Englishman.

3 Cuco Martina

Southampton’s versatile defender is most well-known for a scorcher of a finish against Arsenal. But Martina has never truly gotten a chance at Southampton despite being there for quite a while.  Martina is capable of playing right back or in the center, and he’d probably do a job as a wingback or at left back as well.  Newcastle certainly could always use this kind of help, and it shouldn’t be all too costly to bring him in.

2 Daniel Agger

Newcastle can always use bodies and experience at the back, and this would be one of doing exactly that. Agger is past it in regards to pace, but he can still provide a lot of in a leadership type of role.  He can also fill in alongside Jamaal Lascelles as he is quick enough to make up for the Dane’s lack of pace.  Agger is also capable of playing out with feet, and would likely be fairly cheap as well.

1 Ryan Fraser

Newcastle have quite a great attack with Ayoze Perez and Dwight Gayle up front, but they something more in case of long injury layoffs. Fraser can provide so much, as he’s shown in short bursts so far.  The young Bournemouth player, just 22, is quite small and very pacy.  He could do a number alongside the other weapons that Newcastle have.
