Week 4 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017 will be inaugurated with a tremendous clash between Xolos of Tijuana and Cruz Azul this Friday, January 27, 2017 (7:00 PM Pacific). In what will be one of the must-watch games of the week, ‘caninos’ and ‘cementeros’ will look to add points in a season where both teams are strong playoff candidates.
Xolos of Tijuana played a strong match in Guadalajara against Chivas last weekend in which they counter-attacked throughout the 90 minutes. The team coached by Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera left with a 1-0 win which showed the team’s strong dynamics and which also left them in 1st place of the regular standings. This Friday Club Tijuana will look to extend their winning streak into three games which will establish them as one of the best candidates to reach the ‘liguilla’
Cruz Azul enters the game with 4 points after three games in which they defeated Necaxa in the first week, lost to Pumas in the second, and most recently tied with Monterrey last weekend. The team coached by Paco Jemez has performed well thus far to the point where one can consider them to become strong playoff proponents. Against Xolos, the ‘cementeros’ will face one of the best teams in the Liga MX in one of the most difficult stadiums one could visit. A win will be a difficult endeavour considering Cruz Azul has never won at the Estadio Caliente.
