Club America had a tough time last weekend in their finals rematch with Tigres, but now they look forward to a home clash with Veracruz during Jornada 4. At first glance the hot Veracruz may look like a tougher game than appears as the Tiburones have accumulated all 6 of their points at home this season. Ricardo La Volpe will likely make a few changes following the disastrous result against Tigres, including playing with 5 men in the back.

Goalkeeper: Agustín Marchesín
Marchesín is sitting in very hot water at the moment, with many fans asking for his head just a few games into his America career. Despite that, it’s unlikely La Volpe would pull the plug on him this early.
Left Back: Miguel Samudio
Samudio did well in the midfield last week, but he is clearly needed at the back.
Center Backs: Pablo Aguilar, Paolo Goltz, and Edson Alvarez
Things clearly aren’t working for the América back line, so expect a major shakeup for this match. Alvarez will move even further back to fortify the defense.
Right Back: Bruno Valdez
“The Tiger Hunter” struck again last week, and is the go to guy at right back.
Left Midfielder: “Miky” Arroyo
Always a danger down the left side, he will be filling in the hole that Samudio leaves in the midfield.
Center Midfielder: William Da Silva
La Volpe clearly likes William in this central midfield spot. Some have question his contributions to the team, but the Aguilas skipper is clearly not one of them.
Right Midfielder: Renato Ibarra
Ibarra has only taken one shot this season, probably a good thing since he has never been a prolific goalscorer.
Strikers: Oribe Peralta and Silvio Romero
Oribe scored the first América goal against Tigres, and is one of the hallmarks of this team. Romero, on the other hand, has been neglected despite his goalscoring feats both during the Apertura and the Club World Cup. After a substitute appearance last week, I think he finally gets a start in 2017.
