Tottenham are in talks to sign highly rated Germany under 20 international Anton Donkor after his impressive displays in the UEFA Champions League youth competition, according to reports from German outlet Sportbuzzer (via HITC).
Donkor has never appeared for his club VFL Wolfsburg and has reportedly been told that he is unlikely to ever make the first team and was set for a move to Aston Villa.
Talks with Aston Villa have collapsed and Donkor was reportedly in talks with Everton over a possible move. After Everton manager Ronald Koeman allowed Gerard Deulofeu to leave, the Dutchman will need cover in wide attacking areas and it has been claimed that Donkor has become a prime target for Everton.
Donkor is however far from a finished article. He still needs to develop his game further. Whether a switch to England at either a Championship or Premier League level would suit his game best is very much open to debate. He needs to be wary of going to a club which will bench him.
