Hughes gives update on when Berahino will play and training performance

Mere days after the end of his long-running transfer saga, Saido Berahino looks very likely to be thrown into the deepest end of the pool by having his first match be against his former employers in a week and half’s time.

Mark Hughes has made it very clear that he has no problem with doing so, saying “if he’s fit, he’s in my thoughts straight away” to the Stoke Sentinel.  The report also states that Berahino is beginning training immediately with his teammates in the hopes of being able to play sooner rather than later.

Berahino, Hughes says, could be used in a number of different ways in attacking positions, and he is absolutely delighted and very eager to begin to work with the 23-year-old.

If and when Berahino walks onto the Hawthornes pitch that day, it will be a sight to see.  We’ll be tuning in just to see the reaction he gets, and the performance he gives in response to it will make for brilliant television. Look for Berahino to remain smiling the whole time, as he is just happy to finally have a chance to play regular football yet again.
