Chelsea reportedly ready to sell 29-year-old to Premier League side for £12million

According to the Mirror, Chelsea turned down a £10 million bid from Bournemouth for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. They claim that the Blues have demanded that the Cherries increase their bid by £2 million.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has reportedly targeted Begovic as a replacement for Artur Boruc who will be 37 next month.

The goalkeeper who has 54 caps for Bosnia Herzegovina joined Chelsea from Stoke in the summer of 2015 for £18 million.

However, since moving he has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge and has never looked to threaten Thibaut Courtois’s starting position. Begovic has made just 4 appearances for Chelsea this season with all coming in Cup competitions.

Begovic is a world class player which is what Chelsea noticed when they bought him, yet it does not look like he will ever get regular minutes for Chelsea in the near future.

At 29, he also has many potential years left and the lack of first team football must be frustrating him, it is therefore likely that he will move away from Chelsea in the near future.
