The third and final game during Matchday 4 of the Copa Centroamericana 2017 will be between Panama and El Salvador this Friday, January 20, 2017 (6:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City. This game will be a great spectacle to watch as the winner more than likely will secure their pass into this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup 2017.
Panama has thus far been a disappointment during this tournament considering they are the host team and have only obtained 4 points out of the first three matches. The team coached by Hernan Dario Gomez tied against Belize (0-0), defeated Nicaragua (2-1), and most recently lost against Honduras (0-1). This Friday they are favored to earn the win which will most likely secure their seed into the Gold Cup.
El Salvador has fared almost similarly to Panama as they have also earned 4 points after three matches. The team coached by Eduardo Lara tied Costa Rica (0-0), lost to Honduras (1-2), and defeated Belize (3-1). While a win will place them in the Gold Cup, a loss this Friday may pull them into a temporary 5th place which means they would have to play a playoff wild card match to reach this summer’s competition. Nevertheless, they will still have one last match to play against Nicaragua which will be a great opportunity to secure their direct qualification.
