Chelsea to face competition from Bayern for £72 million-rated midfielder

The Metro report that Chelsea will face stiff competition from Bayern Munich in their quest to sign Marco Veratti. Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly already spoken to the Italy international over the phone about a potential move to the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season.

Ancelotti is said to have made Veratti a priority signing as a replacement for Xabi Alonso, whose contract will be expiring at the end of the season. Bayern will reportedly have to pay £72 million in their quest for Veratti. Last month, reports also surfaced that Chelsea are eyeing Veratti. Antonio Conte is also said to be a fan of his.

Other clubs reportedly interested include Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and Barcelona. However despite Veratti’s agent saying that he will definitely leave at the end of the season, the midfielder has said that he is in no rush to leave PSG.

‘I’m fine here and see no reason to leave,’ the 24-year-old told Sky. ‘All my agent said is that everyone finds it difficult to finish their career with one team, but there’s a difference between difficult and impossible.
