5 Championship Transfer Gems Aston Villa Must Look at Now

After a terrible start of the season and only one victory in the first eleven matches, Aston Villa’s ambitions of making a quick comeback to the Premier League was completely shattered. Their series of seven matches without a defeat in late October and November reignited their hope, but they will need serious reinforcements in order to finish on one of the places that leads to the promotion playoffs.

5 Danny Ward

Striker Danny Ward is the only bright spot in Rotherham, as most of his other teammates are playing terribly. They are currently at the bottom of the table with only 16 points and only a miracle can save them from relegation. They can opt not to sell their best player, but they know his price will probably go down after January, so the right offer can persuade them to sell Ward, who scored nine goals in the Championship so far.

4 Robbie Brady

Norwich’s wide-man is one of the best players in his team again, but it was indicated that Norwich will allow Brady to leave if the right offer comes. Brady has scored three goals this season.

3 Conor Hourihane

Hourihane is one of the best players at Barnsley. The prolific midfielder came to the club two years ago from League Two and he exceeded expectations. Barnsley is currently in front of Aston Villa on the table, but Villa have bigger ambitions and there is no doubt Barnsley will sell Hourihane if Aston Villa send the right offer. Hourihane scored five goals and added eleven assists this season.

2 Adam Webster

Although Aston Villa had less problems in defense than in attack this season, they shouldn’t miss out the opportunity to sign the young Ipswich centre back Adam Webster. Webster has been stellar this season and he is one of the best defenders in the league. Since he is only 22, he might solve all problems in Villa’s defense for the next 10 years!

1 Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham should be Villa’s number one target out of all Championship players. Abraham scored 16 goals in the league so far (only Gayle from Newcastle scored more) and he is only 19! Of course, he is contracted to Chelsea and plays in Bristol City on loan, but he already hinted to his club he might leave them if they don’t give him a chance to play. We all know how fierce competition in Chelsea is and the right offer might convince Chelsea to sell the English U21 international.
