In one of the most noteworthy matches during Week 2 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017, Toluca will host Club America this Sunday, January 15, 2017 (10:00 AM Pacific). The game at the remodeled and almost finished Estadio Nemesio Diez will be witness to the debut of ex-Aguila star Rubens Sambueza who will play his first match with as a ‘choricero’.

The team coached by Hernan Cristante had a disappointing Apertura 2016 in which they failed to reach the playoffs. This off-season Toluca demonstrated that not only did they invest to finish in the top-8, but also to become strong title contenders. In response, they fortified their attacking midfield with Gabriel Hauche from Xolos and the previously mentioned Sambueza. As a small sign of their dangerous attack, the ‘diablos rojos’ destroyed Atlas 4-1 last week in their league debut.

Club America played its last match on Christmas Day in what would become a sad day for the team from ‘coapa’. The team coached by Ricardo La Volpe lost the final that day, and on Sunday they make their return after skipping action last week in order to rest their players. America as always is a favorite to be among the top of the standings therefore this match will be a must-watch game of the week.
