It has widely been reported in recent times that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to bolster his frontline with the signature of Fernando Llorente, especially after the row with Diego Costa.
Former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino has now also dropped a major hint regarding the transfer. “That’s the reason we now know why Llorente has come to Stamford Bridge,” he told Sky Sports (via the Metro). “He’s worked with him before but can he do the job Diego has done? Not so well, I’d imagine.”
It had previously appeared that Chelsea were after a reinforcement to provide backup for Costa, who leads the Premiership in terms of goals scored with 14.
However with Costa now possibly on his way out of Chelsea after his row with Conte over his fitness as well as due to the fact that Chinese Super League clubs after his signature for big money, the Blues may be on the lookout for a replacement for the Spaniard at the moment.
Llorente, 31, joined Swansea from Sevilla at the start of the season and has netted five goals in 12 games for the Premier League basement club.
