Patrick Bamford has been recalled by Chelsea from his season long loan spell at Premier League club Burnley, as reported by ESPN. During his loan, the 23-year-old made six appearances, all from the bench for the Clarets, failing to score.
He failed to make to make a name for himself at Turf Moor with Sam Vokes, Ashley Barnes and Andre Gray being preferred by manager Sean Dyche. He becomes the second player to be recalled from loan after Nathan Ake also returned from Bournemouth.
After moving to Chelsea in January 2012 for £1.5 million as a highly rated young prospect from Nottingham Forest, Bamford has failed to make a senior appearance for Chelsea. He has however spent various loan spells with MK Dons, Derby County, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Burnley.
His most productive loan spell came with Middlesbrough in the 2014-15 season after he netted 17 goals in 34 matches in the Championship. Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka is said to want him on a permanent basis.
