Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed the club will exercise its option to extend Zlatan Ibrahimović’s contract by a further year.
The former Sweden captain moved to Old Trafford from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer earlier this year, signing a one-plus-one year contract with the English giants, and it appears as though the Red Devils have decided to keep the iconic striker for another season.

“Zlatan’s situation is simple: he has a one-plus-one year [contract] with the club and we are happy with him,” Mourinho said at his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s Europa League game against Feyenoord tomorrow.
“He is happy, committed and loving his life as a football player at Man United. This is probably the last big challenge of his football career, so it is perfect for him to be here.”
The 35-year-old has been very doing well at Old Trafford since his summer move, scoring 8 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United this season.
Keeping Ibrahimović for another season is definitely a wise decision.
The Swede is still good enough to be a regular starter at Old Trafford, but even if he doesn’t start every game next season, his experience and influence off the pitch would still be invaluable.
Even though he’s 35 years old, he still has a lot to offer both on and off the field.
