Arsenal face major injury blow ahead of Manchester United visit

Arsenal could be without their key attacker Alexis Sanchez in their next few games after the Chilean star suffered a low-grade calf tear while preparing for his country’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Colombia on Thursday, as reported by the Guardian.

The 27-year-old is set to stay in his country’s capital Santiago for further tests and treatment in order to determine the full extent of his injury.

The Chilean football association released the following statement on the matter: “The medical team of the Chilean national team can confirm Alexis Sanchez has a low-grade muscle tear. The player will stay in Santiago, under treatment and evaluation, ahead of Chile’s match against Uruguay.”

It seems like the medical team is hopeful of Alexis recovering in time for Chile’s game against Uruguay on November 16th, but he’ll probably not be risked in order to avoid further damage.

Alexis Sanchez, who’s one of Arsenal’s most important players, could miss the Gunners’ crucial game at Old Trafford against Manchester United on November 19th.

The former Udinese and Barcelona player has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s side since the start of the season, scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists.

If his injury forces him out of Arsenal’s next few games, it’d be a major blow for Arsenal’s chances of staying in touch with the Premier League leaders.
